More or Less

Lately it has been more Lupus and less sewing. And I'm fighting a few demons for mental peace. I have had some real victories lately, disability insurance has been approved and began in December, pain specialist has been effectively managing 65-75% of my pain lately, and I'm not working.  So really I have quite a lot to be thankful for, but I still want more. Who wouldn't?

Soft Book

I started with this great idea to make my Grandson and his little contemporary Quiet Books for their first birthday.
Somehow I did not think it would be this HUGE project, something fun and somewhat easy. Well definitely fun, and not specifically difficult but the more time that goes into each page, the better it looks. Plus it is really difficult to stop the ideas from flowing.

I have 5 pages for each book 95% complete, out of 11 (maybe 12) pages. That are turning out so very cute!

First picture is my idea board, where I gathered ideas from anywhere I could find, then following are 5 page patterns that just need cleaned up and top stitched and mounted!

The New Year Brought Quilts

This is quilt number two for the new year. Sweet Water (which technically could be December, but I am claiming it for 2013) and now Little Ladies are going into the log book for 2013. These little Bliss pieced Ladies have been hanging on my idea board for literally months and months. I just did not have the right venue to pull them together. It had to be the right time, much of my quilting is like that, emotion based. That is probably why it is such a good therapy hobby for me. And it is a great feeling to bless someone. My co-worker, Maria's little granddaughter Jimmy will take this one to cuddle with.

What has happened

In review, I see I created 21 quilt in 2011, and something like 40+ in 2010, this year, 2012 I think I have banked 3. Why has happened? I still have the strong desire, I have quilts to work on. But it is true my energy has bottomed out.
Well, I will just work to keep a good attitude and be thankful for the work I can do. I made my grandson, Corban, an adorable Central Park animal print quilt that highlighted the animal silhouettes. With some gals from work we created a blue am yellow queen quilt for Linda Osborne retirement, and a red polka dot quilt for co worker Kelly. Good job!
